and Hollyhocks
Blousy, faded blooms,
Silk, paper and velvet
Plaster baby head ...
Chubby cheeks in a high collar
Child sized Webb mower ... so cute
Rescued ...
Hand stitched peachy pink welsh quilt
and two books ...
Beryl Grey ... Ballerina
Read more about her here
The first Western guest ballerina to dance with the Bolshoi Ballet
Dancing major roles in full length productions at the age of just 14.
All photos taken from the book
And Man of the White South
The Story of Captain Scott's epic attempt to be
the first explorer to reach the South Pole.
with his team mates
 Wilson, Bowers, Oates and Evans
Wonderful line drawings
They fought their way to the Pole,
only to find the Norwegians had beaten them just one month earlier.
On their return, Oates, suffering badly from frostbite,
found it increasingly difficult to keep up.

“On his 32nd birthday – March 17th –
thinking that the only salvation for the party lay in his self sacrifice,
he deliberately walked out to his death during a blizzard
in a noble endeavour to save his three companions … “

“Scott wrote of it in his diary:
‘It was the act of a brave man and an English gentleman.
We all hope to meet the end with a similar spirit, and assuredly the end is not far.”
Days later Scott, Wilson and Bowers died.

“The great leader who, having had no food for a whole week,
was yet man enough to write in defiance of death:
‘How much better has this all been than lounging in too great comfort at home.”

All will be coming to the Sherborne Antiques and Flea Market
on Saturday 26th January

Hello Marina:
An eclectic mix which includes those wonderful, faded blooms in pinks, purples and mauves which we love as colours and those, amongst other items, splendid illustrations taken from the book of the fated South Pole expedition.

So many lovely finds, think how long it would have taken to make that quilt.

Hi Marina,

You sure have a keen eye for finding really cool items. I'm in love with the flowers and the quilt is really pretty too. The bust of the baby is really unusual and what can I say about books but that I love all of them!

I woke up to a dusting of snow this morning. I wasn't expecting that! Brrrr. I love looking at snow but when I look at it I start to shiver. Living in Texas has softened me up.

I love the quilt the most - and Beryl Grey danced through the pages of my "Girl" annuals in the 1950s & 60s.

All lovely! Apparently if you steam the flowers by your kettle spout they come back to life. The quilt is to die for and the illustrations make me think of an A-ha video! x

Somehow the whole lot brings me right back to my childhood and the stuff at my Gran's house. Especially the illustrations and the feel of those old books. Loved that little tour around your latest treasures.....

Damn I wished I lived closer. I adore those child sized mowers, my neighbour let me borrow his as a child. Those paper flowers are pretty too
