After a hearty lunch with Mr's mum, they decided get some air at the coast before heading home. Poole was closest and Mr wanted to see the new 'Twin Sails' bridge.
The first of its type to be built, at a cost of £37m.
Two sails standing proud.
Leaving Poole, they journeyed across to Sandbanks on the little ferry.
They played on the sand.
Journeying home past the ruins of Corfe Castle. Built by William the Conqueror, it dates back to the 11th century.
Next day - they set out again. A wander around Wells and then on to Ebbor Gorge. A favourite walk.
The withy bear, well weathered and starting to disintegrate. His teeth are wobbling and his legs no longer as strong as they used to be, but he still defends his patch.
Gnarly, holey tree.
Little parasols, nestled in a fairy glade.
A fallen tree, rent from the red earth. She used to find this so sad, until Rose reminded her that fallen trees live on as shelter for a myriad of creatures. Giving new life.
A knotty hole in the trunk - now a miniature pond, rippling with insect life.
They started the ascent.
Past caves, climbing upwards through the riven rock.
At the top they paused to look out over the gorge.
Glastonbury Tor just visible, rising out of the mists.

Lovely photos M! Looks like you really made the most of the last weekend of the hols. I think I'm getting a bit of a thing for moss.

your photos have just brought back very happy memories of this gorgeous part of the world. Thank you x
What a wonderful outing Marina! You have some very beautiful landscape around where you live. A great way to spend an afternoon.
I like the fact that other creatures large and small can take advantage of the tree stumps and holes leftover from a tree. It makes me smile!
Glad you had a great time!
The new bridge looks awesome Jane, in fact all of these photos do. I'm pretty envious of you for where you live, it's beautiful.
