The Sherborne Vintage Bazaar was a bit
of a slow affair. Sales were sporadic and
the much hoped for crowds failed to appear.
More of a slow, slow, quick, quick, slow, than a Be Bop a Do Wop … descending into a slow waltz. A
long, tiring, idling day, uplifted by some lovely regular customers and a few
welcome new ones.
The beautiful feather hand muff (talked
about here) was the first thing to go, having hardly touched the table before
it was off to pastures new. So pleased to have treasured it briefly – if only we could know its story.
Susie & Russell Needham |
Susie in the Mirror had interesting clothes, glorious fabrics
and objet d’art.
Vintage Vampilicious |
Vintage Vampilicious was there too,
looking uber glam as usual. She is
hoping to open a shop locally soon, stocked with her fabulous sartorial gems.
Georgie provided a divine sweet treat
for breakfast!
The lightest, fluffiest sponge filled with a dreamy combo of cream,
blackberry and apple. Wow, she bakes great cakes!
Arriving home feeling very tired and a
little despondent, Mr VJ cheered her up with a warm fire, glass of wine and some
delicious tapas. After a little culinary
alchemy he produced Serrano ham and eggs,
slices of chorizo flash fried in honey and sherry and grilled asparagus spears marinated
in lemon, olive oil and garlic, all accompanied by homemade bread dotted with
fennel seeds! No photos ... all eaten before too quickly!
By 9pm, warmed and muzzy with wine she lost her fight to stay awake and fell into the deepest, longest sleep she has had
in ages, greeting Sunday at a very civilized daylight hour rather than the usual
6.30am!

Hello Marina:
We are so sorry that the fair was not quite all that you had hoped for. However, the supper prepared by Mr. VJ sounds to have made up for a great deal.
What a shame, I do feel for you the day is endless if it's not busy, and ytour stand looked gorgeous as always.... all that hard work sourcing, prepping, pricing, loading... sending you a big hug xx
Oh how very boring! Poor old you. Hope the next one is more busy.
Sorry to hear things were quiet Jane but sometimes things are slow I guess and can't be helped. Loved the items that were on sale though.
Looks like a lovely fair, shame it's so far away from me!
Hi Marina,
I'm so sorry the fair was a "bust"! It makes for an especially long day when the traffic comes in quick starts and stops. Sigh...but on the bright side, it sounds like you had a faBulous meal made for you and a great night's sleep. What more can a person ask for!
Best!
Kris
P.S. Your meals always make me hungry...they sound so deLish!
I'm so sorry you did not manage to sell a lot. I can imagine that it's a hard days work. I so wish I could get to places like that, nothing like that on here in Norway.
Never mind, pleased you got a good feed and were well looked after.
Enjoy your evening
Ah thanks for the mention it was lovely to see you and you looked fab in your 70s maxi dress. I know how you feel, it was my first fair & I was shattered but sadly no Mr Calamity to feed me when I got home, just a stroppy cat demanding to know where I had been & wanting extra playtime. Then when I unpacked I discovered one of my dresses had drink spilled over it - booh. Overall a big learning curve & I must try not to spend more than I make in future,
Hi M,
Yes a bit of a disappointment we thought. Yours and J's stall were indeed the highlight!
Glad you got a well deserved lie in!

Do you think the lovely weather kept people outside? Sorry to hear it wasn't such a good day for you. Mr VJ was obviously busy preparing a delicious supper for you though...YUMmmmmmmY!
Jane, I'm sorry that is not fair
went well, I know it is hard work
and 'nerve-wracking to stand there doing nothing,

I say last time I wish I could be there... now I woder how broke i would be if I'd done that!
A good evening, followed by a good sleep and a civilized
waking hour, is all I ask from life ; )
Oh, I remember from my market days how it feels when a day goes bad - sorry your day didn't go as expected. I also know how good it feels to have a couple of glasses of wine and then drop off for a very long sleep :-)
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, hope you're feeling better now and having a good evening xo

I hear you, there is nothing worse than sitting around while it is slow, it makes for a long day. Your stall looks lovely, especially the trophy cups. Tam x
A post that made me grin from ear to ear... I felt the coziness of the days conclusion... thank you... Xx
So sorry to hear that the fair wasn't good for you Jane. I am sure your stand looked amazing. I am a little miffed to hear that the organiser chose to copy the name of our fair. All the best, Lizzie xxx
