A bad forecast ...

... did not deter them!
Good old British spirit and tenacity shone through ...
Picnic benches gathered under gazebos,
gave enough shelter for a communal supper for their gang of 37 campers!
Steaming pots of chilli followed by rich chocolate brownies.
Glasses of bubbly and mugs of hot choc.
The next day dawned bright.
Crisped bacon and boiled eggs - her perfect camp breakfast.
The little ones happily swam, trampolined and ran in the woods all day.
More gang members arrived, swelling their number to 49!
Time for the annual cream tea ...
with tablecloths and flowers of course!
Tables taden with pillowy scones, thick clotted cream and fruity jam.
Lemon cake, cupcakes, flapjack and tiffin.  And jugs of Pimms!
Gorgeous little red haired one had a birthday.
There was rainbow cake to celebrate ...
Later, as the sun gently dipped, they lit fires ...
and ate even more!
Perfect bbq pittas filled with ...

juicy lamb leg steaks marinated in
cumin, paprika, ground coriander and olive oil
topped with red pepper hummus
tzatziki
thinly sliced red cabbage
and pickled chillis
Looking forward to next year guys ...

Looks great fun and it doesnt always matter whether the weather is brilliant or not. You were obviously well prepared and had a great time anyway. P.S. the cake looks fab!

Yummy food. Oh my gosh, look at that rainbow cake!

I wanted to thank you for having the pop-up comments. They are so much easier to comment, and I wish more of my blog friends had them.
