Tales of walking, eating, watching and playing. Vintage treasures and simple pleasures ... the things that make her happy.

Making her smile

Tidying the garden in warm, dappled sunlight ...
Repainting her shed ...
Mending and replacing,
broken and wind strewn fencing ...
Little man quietly occupied,
with tiny rubber bands,
making bracelets and charms ...
the latest craze!
Little man surprising his great aunt with pretty flowers ...
Packing a picnic
and heading for the hills ...
Leafing through 'Persiana',
her new favourite cookbook.
and then settling down with a novel ...
... whilst the boys play.
She couldn't join in as she has torn her calf muscle ...
and it hurts ... a lot!

And for Father's Day,
a very clever card from Mr VJ's little 3 year old grandson ...
Good job he likes chocolate!

A torn calf muscle? OUCH! Well then, a good novel is in order and watching the boys play is a good balm for the soul. What a lovely post, and me too...I am painting, cleaning, enjoying the wind whisp through the white curtains in my covered patio while I read novel after novel. BLISS!

That card is absolutely fantastic, what a clever idea! Sorry to hear about your calf, I can imagine it hurts like hell as when I was about 14 I tore ligaments in my ankle (a smaller problem than yours) but oh did it hurt for ages, and I'm sorry to say that that old wives tale about things like that giving you twinges years later when the weather changes is true for me. Hope you make a speedy recovery. x

What a lovely life you lead , apart from the torn calf muscle. I did that once, by slipping whilst coming down a steep hill and its really uncomfortable :( I do hope you heal very quickly, take care and make sure you get spoilt rotten !! xxxx

Those bright bracelets remind of the Scooby doo bracelets and key rings we made as children in the 60s/70s, does anyone else remember them? Hope your leg heals quickly.

Hello Marina, I left a comment a while ago but didn’t stay long enough to check it posted – if it didn’t I’m sorry! The ‘phone rang, and I dashed off to deal with something else…
I loved this post, as I always do. Barbara

Love the little shed and little mans bracelets !!
Oh my does the candy wrappers in the Fathers day card bring back SWEET memories of when I was a young girl in the U.K. I would die for some of those English sweets again ~ they are far superior to the ones here in the U.S. !
