Tales of walking, eating, watching and playing. Vintage treasures and simple pleasures ... the things that make her happy.

A charity banquet in the Mediaeval Hall of the Treasurer's House in Martock
on Saturday night proved to be a wonderful evening of
excellent food and wines and perfect company in the most gorgeous setting.
The Treasurer's House is the oldest inhabited house in Somerset,
with the exception of the Bishop's Palace in Wells.
It is mentioned in texts from 1221.

The evening ended with an Auction of Promises ...
the VJ's ended up spending far too much money,
but it was all for a very good cause ...
the Mental Health Foundation.
Did you know, directly or indirectly,
1 in 4 people will be affected by mental health issues each year?

Maristella ... if you read this,
Mr VJ bid on and won a little treat for us all when you come to visit!

The next day, they had afternoon tea,
at her bestie's house,
to celebrate the birthday of their 'sweet sixteen'.
How cute are these cookies ...

This week VJ has stock to get ready for ...
Miss Edie will be for sale at the fair ...
Hopefully, she will go to a good home ...

Such a gorgeous building. I think my friend Ben worked on it years ago. He's a conservator. That's exactly the road we used to take in on a Sunday morning after church to visit my nan and grandad for coffee and cake. They lived,on Church close. My aunty Dolly lived next door. she was a right madam. Bet dinner in there was full of atmosphere. Xx

Oh goodness, thats a bit of a heart breaker! I'm sure who ever takes Miss Edie home will love her forever and dress her up in beautiful frocks all day long.

Good afternoon! I hope Miss Edie does go to a loving home to be dressed up and displayed! And that afternoon tea looks delicious! Lovely old church in that first photo; how I'd love to stroll in a place like that!

Oh dear! Bye bye Ms. Edie.
I don't know what it is that makes me love her so much; some misplaced nostalgia or lost memory of something similar. Perhaps it was the Hummels my mother used to collect when I was young. I do hope she finds herself in a good home.

A very good cause & one I always give to, but sadly it's still a taboo subject.
Until I was in my 20s I had barely met or heard of anyone who had suffered - now I don't think I know anyone who hasn't been touched by mental illness in some way.

I sure hate to hear that Ms. Edie will be sold and I'm afraid, snapped up by someone. (Sniff, sniff) She is adorable.

The desserts look divine! I wish I wasn't such a sweet lover. In my younger day, I didn't care so much for sweets but as I have gotten older (much older) I find I love the stuff! Hah!

I made some delicious Oatmeal Raisin cookies and of course had to add chocolate chips, coconut and some dried cherries and crasins ( a cross between a raisin and a cranberry) They turned out great so I took some to a lovely little lady who I met on my daily walk who is 81, a widow, and still drives a car. She is the sweetest lady. I also took some to a man who we see fishing nearly everyday and have spoken to several times. You see I had promised him some the next time I baked. So, all and all I had a very busy and productive Sunday. I hope they liked the cookies.

I hope you and your family are well and please let me know if you sell Ms. Edie. I hope whoever gets her will take good care of her!

It is so very important that people know about mental health issues, it's as serious as any medical issue out there... I find it fantastic that you support the cause!
Much love,
Tammy
