Tales of walking, eating, watching and playing. Vintage treasures and simple pleasures ... the things that make her happy.

They wandered ...

the city ...
with their child's hand clasped in theirs,
his infectious enthusiasm bringing wonder to their eyes.
The noise and the smell of Christmas
at the pop-up market on the Embankment.
Enthusiastic hustlers drawing them in.
Silvered blades skating on ice.
Exhilarated smiles on winter bitten faces.
Her wooden legs no match for her child's fearless abandon!
Watching mudlarks dig in receding waters.
Remembering Mandela ...
Inside St Paul's Cathedral ...
a moment of hushed calm,
respite from the festive furore ...
She had to visit her favourite store ...
The Liberty clock and Father Time with his hour glass ...
"No minute gone comes ever back again take heed and see ye nothing do in vain"
The Royal Shakespeare Company's 'Matilda'
collaboration installation in Liberty's central atrium.
She bought a few little goodies in Haberdashery -
gifts for crafty family members,
a birthday present for a special friend.
Under darkening sky and sparkling lights
they headed away from the bustle ...
to their rented bed.

Tonight her man is away ...
cheesy Buble will play and Christmas wrapping shall commence ... !

I love Liberty's, haven't been for years. Haven't really had a proper day in London. It all looks very glitzy. Thanks for the tour. Happy wrapping.

A lovely pre Christmas trip to London - Liberty's is one of my favourite stores. Have you been watching the super programme about the shop on Channel 4?

Looks like we all love Liberty's! Liberty's alone is a good enough reason for a trip up to London.

Glad that you had a lovely time away
I was in London a couple of weeks ago and found myself being lifted off the street and being carried along by the crowds - beats walking I suppose. Channel 4 were in Liberty when were there - you might see my big backside on the telly!
Best wishes
Jenny

Oh WOW! It looks wonderful and sounds like you had a marvelous time. With little man in hand I bet he was mesmerized by all the festivities. I wish I could go to London! Husband has been there and to Liberty's too (for me) years ago. LOL

Did you ice skate? If I tried to do that I'd end up in the Emergency room with a broken hip or something. LOL

I do want to wish you a special holiday greeting and hope your Christmas is merry and happy. We will be heading back to Texas to spend the holidays with daughter and grandkids. It's a 15 hour or so trip with stops and a meal or two in between. :-)
