They visited the Frome Vintage Bazaar.
Beautiful stalls, packed with treasures.
It was lovely to be on the 'other side',
have time to browse and really appreciate
this lovely fair and all the talented stallholders.
VJ couldn't resist this 'book',
cleverly repurposed into a wonderfully unusual photo and note holder!
Made by the lovely Miss Jones.
It will be a Christmas present for VJ's mum.
A few black and white family photos and
a couple of special family momentoes will be slotted into the pages.
Pretty china, teeny glass bowls, ribbons and lace
and some beautifully made cards from the Sea Garden
also found their way into her shopping basket.
Later friends came for dinner, with their newborn baby,
their two little girls and their elderly parents,
who were visiting from overseas.
They arrived wet and wind lashed.
Steaming bowls of creamy pasta with greens,
and a huge, nutty, apple crumble warmed them.
The house felt cosied with laughter and chat,
their faces lit by the fire and pumpkin candlelight.
The next day they headed into nearby Dorset for the annual Eat Dorset Food Fair.
There were so many goodies to be sampled and bought.
There were so many goodies to be sampled and bought.
Artisan bakers, local makers.
All beautifully presented and packaged.
Little man helped Lesley Waters with an 'afternoon tea' demo ... !
And then, he and his pal produced griddle scones,
'instant' plum jam and cream ... with just a little help!
Scored 10 out of 10 by Lesley!
Terrible photo of their delicious efforts ...
The grown-ups tucked into their afternoon treat!
They came home with their basket full of oils and cakes,
nuts and salamis, bread and honey and local cider brandy.
And these ...
Handmade, hand painted chocs for a friend's birthday!

This seems so much fun Jane, I was thinking recently how I really wanted to try making scones, white chocolate and raspberry, I probably wouldn't do as good a job as the boys did though!
I love food fairs, and always come home with so many delicious things. Too hard to resist!
The Dorset food fair photos look are lovely! I think I'd have found it a bit sad to see the piggies photo by the food which looks as if it was made from them though... they look so happy in the photo!
What a lovely day out. I never knew hand painted chocolates existed! All that work and gone in a mouthfull. x
I'm smitten with that rather amazing note/photo holder too. xx
Those chocolates are wonderful.
What a super thing for your boy to be able to do. I do wish mine was any good in the kitchen! We've been to that food fair a few years back (Parham House? Or is it Parnham?), it's excellent, we must go again. Love the goodies you found at the fair. Sadly, the lurgy prevented me from going so I have vicariously enjoyed your visit, many thanks.

The entire post has me drooling!
Those are 2 events that I wanted to go to last weekend but I'm afraid putting extra insulation in the loft took priority! Wow that tea time treat looks amazing! I loved your purchase from Frome too.

Hi Marina.
These images reminded me of the good times that we spent together with you, great nostalgia!
We are planning the next return to England this spring, I'm counting the days .... sigh!
A kiss and a hug to you and also to your little boy, Maristella e Sergio.

That food fair looks wonderful. I could eat that bread with nuts in (?) all day long! xxx
That food fair looks fantastic Jane, and dinner sounded divine.
I really love the gift that you bought, it's original and not something you would find on the high street, that's what makes it amazing!
I hope that you and your family stay dry and safe in the upcoming storm!
Much love,
Tammy
