Burning bright ...

... Summer returned,
for a day.
Mid afternoon they headed for the coast,
to make the most of a rare October day ...
... the short distance from home, a long way away.
Warmed, they read and watched.
They were joined by friends,
struggling with sudden loss and sadness.
They shared food and a sea air tonic.
The little ones played,
running wildly ...
... happily muddied and salt water washed.
Sunlight dimmed ...
fishermen dotted the shore, lighting beacons.
As day burned to night ...
... they were reluctant to leave,
unsure of when they will return.

Looks Idyllic...I'm sorry to hear of your friends sadness, but it is lovely that they could spend the day with you and yours, I'm sure it helped?

It's sometimes healing just to be outside.

I'm popping in quietly to say how touched I was by your words on dear Madelief's blog. You words perfect in my humble opinion. I have been aware of her husband's illness since he was diagnosed and, I'm sure you will agree, Madelief has never ceased to amaze me this year with her upbeat determination to stay positive on her blog.

Warmest wishes from France,

Stephanie

Marina,

Your photos are beautiful. I'm glad you were able to visit the coast and spend time with friends who I am sure were warmed by your friendship. Looks like lil man also had fun playing with friends too.

It has finally started to feel a bit like fall here. We had a bit of a scare thinking we would get some high winds and loads of rain from the storm Karen but it fizzled out (thank you God). While we did get some rain, it wasn't a big deal after all.

Your friends are fortunate to have you to help them through their sorrows.
Thanks you for your words about Madelief - a further sadness that has touched us all deeply today.

I noticed that myself Jane, that we've had a good few days that have gone completely against the grain of Autumn/Winter the last few days, long may it last! Is this what you'd call an Indian Summer?

Dear Vintage Jane, I am so terribly sorry but I somehow missed your lovely comment on my blog. How very kind of you.
This post was very touching. I am not sure who it is about, but there are so many of my blogging friends suffering at the moment, that it makes me think of them all. God bless.Linda x

Such a lovely, lyrical post and wonderful pictures. I especially love the one of the little cars and trucks in the sand and pebbles. I'm glad your friends got to spend some time with you.
