"Oh, how do you know
When Spring has come?
Still falls the snow
And the birds are dumb."
The grass will wear
A brighter tone.
The thrush will dare
To carol alone.
The silver rain
Will gently fall,
The woods will gain
The blackbird's call.
But the way to tell
And the surest way,
Is to find a dell,
Where the breezes play,
And seek and seek
Where the daisy, soon,
Will show like a meek
White baby moon;
When your foot treads,
With tender fear,
On seven white heads, -
Then Spring is here.

Many little white Snowdrop heads have been and gone ...
but still no real sign of Spring.
Winter drags on ... cruelly determined.
Refusing to relinquish it's grip.
They walked along the seafront, but it was grim.
Brittle grey sand hitting them, stinging their faces.
A churlish, bullying wind beat them into submission,
sending them home.
Grandma's been watching Mary Berry and making sugar coated flowers!
They sought solace at Grandma and Grandpa's house,
a comforting roast beef dinner,
and birthday cake for Grandpa ...
and chocolate!

What lovely and sweet images do you show us ! Don't be disappointed with the weather, spring will certainely appear as she does since ever!
Big hugs!

An afternoon at Grandma and Granpa's house sounds just perfect solace from the cold. The poem is delightful and I will look out for groups of daises. The sun was out here this morning but has been driven away by the snow ...
Glad spring is on its way, hope you had a lovely Easter.
Sounds like indoors was a much better idea than out! The sun is shining here today but still no sign of a single daisy.

I'm off to find a daisy dell - might be some time! Jane x
~ A deli where the breezes play...Sounds just perfect to me..I have my Rosey Tinted Specs on to look for those dancing daisies.... Luncheon with the grandparents sounds special too...Tis chilly here and winter still has us in her grasp, Mrs VJ..Still April is the month of angels...and the extra hour of sunlight always lifts the spirit...With 'Twinkles' *** Maria x
Gorgeous. Here it is getting better finally. I do hope Spring will show itself there too soon :) Have a darling week doll xx
Lovely to read some poetry... Yep it's one very bitter wind here too But we have had blue sky and sun for 3 days in a row and I do have daisies on my lawn and pansies in my baskets! Cx
That birthday cake and celebration sounds like it was good at least Marina. I honestly wouldn't let the fact that we're still in Spring bring you down too much. Remember that even though it's ever so slowly, we are leaving Winter, each night gets brighter for longer from now until like July, we're moving in the right direction Jane so try to not feel too down, things will get better soon, honestly.
Great to escape to grandparents houses, especially when lovely food is involved! :) x
You were brave to take on the seafront!
I heard the first blackbird call at the end of February. Then it thought better of it. They are still around, but have been silent ever since.
But possibly a little bit of hope today? One layer of fleece ditched anyway!
Lovely images!
Just think on - this time last year was unseasonably hot, everything bursting into life too early. Then, the dreaded RAIN, week after week of it. Blossoms ruined, gardens wrecked...I'd rather put up with this weather for another few weeks ;o)

Not here yet either, but I am ever hopeful. We have snowdrops aplenty, but where are the daffs? xx
I think it is just a tiny bit warmer today.A few Forsythia and Daphne buds have opened while the snowdrops finally start fading away!
I was always taught it was five daisies. Perhaps we were less optimistic in the North West. With snow still lying in my garden and the poor Daffodils all squashed it seems a long way fromn spring despite the sunshine today.
Hello Marina,
Beautiful poem, thank you. Spring is late here also, I hope it hurries up and arrives soon!
You can't beat a roast dinner at Mum and dad's, with an added bonus of a birthday cake!
Ivan
Those sugar coated primroses are just the most beautiful thing! Fingers crossed for Spring soon! x
