It's falling down ...

The Mr thought he'd tidy up the caulking around the edge of the window ...
He pulled a bit of paper at the edge of the frame and a little bit of plaster came away.
He pulled a bit more and some stone came away.
He pulled a bit more and part of the ceiling came down ...
... along with horsehair, bits of old newspaper and black dust!
It never rains, but it pours ...

Oh I have a Mister who likes to do just that - and it always follows him saying things like "I'm just going to do a little job - it'll only take a few minutes". Good luck x Jane

Oh deary me, this is dreadful! It's always the way isn't it? A small job snowballs into an epic project. x

Hope the mister hasn't created too big a problem. It was probably for the best as it must have been hanging on by hardly anything, and could have crashed down unexpectedly on your heads.

Well at least you can now do a good job which will last for years. Then
I would tie his hands up before he can do any more damage......

OMG, that looks like a serious amount of work is needed, if you'd wanted it to come down you'd have been up there hours chiselling away at that little lot, Lucey x

I sympathise, we had a whole lathe and plaster ceiling fall down once and there is so much dust. Once it is repaired it will last another 100 years! Julie x

So interesting to see what's behind the surface! Though nicer for me, looking at a photo, than you, having to live with it.

Oopsie! Why is it that it that things come down very quickly but will take far longer to put right. Hope all better soon.

Hello Marina,
What a shock, you poor things, that can be so scary when you don't know where it will stop (we lost a whole stone barn once from just removing a plank!). Good luck with the repairs - never cheap! Looking on the positive side at least it will be nice and solid from now on!

Really hope that you can get this sorted out Jane because it sounds like a real nuisance that really shouldn't be like that for too long, sorry to hear that this ended up happening, I know you guys have enough problems with your home at times without even more occurring.

Mr N hacked the plaster off the wall around our bay window today so you have my deepest sympathy! (He just doesn't see dust!)

Oh dear - this looks quite a familiar sight....one tiny pull of paper and a whole wall tumbles inwards! Keep end goal firmly in your sights and all will come good
Best wishes
