Tales of walking, eating, watching and playing. Vintage treasures and simple pleasures ... the things that make her happy.

Found this week ...

Pretty tray
... and little box
Front of the box reads -
"A Wish ...
I do not wish thee grandeur,
Nor yet a store of wealth,
I wish thee greater treasure,
Contentment, peace and health".

And inside ...
Diddy little anvils (downsizing grandpa's overflowing shed!)
And ...
... an early 50s toy Hoover washing machine
The wringer folds away, just like the real thing used to,
so that you could push it back under the worktop.
The grooved metal top prevented splashes
and fixed to the side of the machine afterwards
to hold the wet washing after wringing.
All of the above will be at upcoming vintage fairs.

And finally, a little present VJ bought for herself ...
What's inside the little case ... ?
a dinky little sewing machine, in working order.

I'm in the sitting room staring at the mountain of stuff I've sorted for Saturday and wondering how I'm ever going to reduce it in order to fit it in the car...so much stuff, so little space!
Looking forward to seeing you Saturday, I love all the things you've bought
x

The washing machine....The washing machine...Goodness...Had one back in 73, when returning to this country. The adult version though, the Daddy.
Had to fill it up, with bowels of water, soap powder, plug in....Sit on it, to stop it creeping across the floor....HeHe! :).
Lasted a couple of years..Then packed up, never replaced it, to this day. Hate washing machines...Horrid things, ruin cloths, colour and all....
Anyway, l live near a river...!!!!!

Hello Marina,
Great finds, really like the sewing machine, not seen one so small but looks wonderfully solid - always loved the sound of my mum's old singer sewing machine!

Where to start! The verse inside the sewing box is beautiful - you don't get touches like that at Hobbycraft! And as for the sewing machine - I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before - what a treasure. I remember having a washing machine like that many years ago - the mangle was always fun! Good luck at the fair x Jane

I know what I want for Mothers day... a taxi fare (to the airport) a plane ticket (to the UK) a train fare (to the fair) and some pounds (to buy some treasures and eat cake and drink tea) ... that's not too much to ask for is it? ♥♥♥

If you bring any of that home I will be very surprised! Have fallen in love with the Hoover washing machine, but really what would I do with it? Where would I put it? Could I cope with the looks on the rest of the family's faces if I did bring it home? But some one will be more resolute than I! And your present to your self, Fantastic.

These are all such great finds but if I had to have a favourite then it would be that dear little box with the delightful writing on the front. Have a good day at North Cadbury.
