I give you my heart ...

Instead of putting away the mass of camping paraphernalia dumped in the kitchen and hosing down the muddied canvas and wet suits from our brief trip away, I spent a good chunk of today sewing and stuffing these ...
I sold most of my stock of heart brooch pillows at the last Bridport Vintage Market.
I make them from scraps of embroidered linens that are beyond rescue.
Each has a band of lace or ribbon to slot a postcard or photo of a loved one in.
Each one is supplied with either a vintage postcard or a brooch.  Stupidly, I packed the postcards and brooches in the depths of a box in my car ready for the weekend so cannot show them!
Each hangs from a length of gingham or ric rac ribbon, is backed with contrasting fabric and measures 27cm from top to bottom, not including the ribbon.  Firmly stuffed, they are perfect for displaying your brooches.
And yes, that's me, aged about 8, with a very dodgy home cut fringe!

Oh how I want one of these! Something so poetic about a "recycled heart"...
I'm celebrating because of course posting one of these darlings to Australia should not be a problem (?) Mmmmm... methinks an email is order!!

Gorgeous pillows. I like the fringe, I am sure people would pay good money for the same look now. I shall be placing a few orders from you when we get back too :)

Hello Marina:
We have never seen anything like your little heart cushions before. They are so sweet and the range of vintage fabris are so interesting And, what a lovely idea to slot an old photograph in the trim, we are sure that they will 'go like hot cakes' so to speak!!!

These are so pretty and I love the idea of using them to display a photograph too.
I also had a fringe when I was young, although I had the 'pudding basin' haircut which made my face look very round indeed! x

Hello Marina

Beautiful creations and functional. Wishing you continued success. I love your childish haircut, what was it about us always wetting the fringe and then cutting it !!

Hi. Just saw you whilst following the Bimini buttons on eBay. Never done this before but loved your cushions - such a great idea! The market looks fun too, would love to have the courage to do something like it, I have enough stuff!
