It's my mum's 70th birthday today. I made her this card, using one of the fashion illustrations that I bought recently. In the bottom left hand corner someone has written in pencil, "this dark green velvet hat is plumed with coque feathers". I wonder where it came from originally.
And this is one of her presents - a sweet little footstool with a painted base, little bun feet and a tapestry top.
I also found a cardboard box and covered it in old sheet music. The inside is covered in bright pink tissue, and wrapped within lay some luxurious little treats - some bath bubbles, body silk, handcream and handmade soaps - all tied up with a spotty ribbon and a printed luggage tag.
We are off out for a family meal tonight.
Happy Birthday Mum!
Don't worry, I haven't given any surprises away - she won't read this until after the event!
Last week my Mr was 50! More about that when I have a little more time but a big thank you to Mr, Mrs and Miss E for a lovely, relaxed evening on Friday. Beautiful cake Miss E and quite delicious too!
Some good news last week (and a follow-on from this post) was that Ai Weiwei was finally released from captivity, albeit on bail and forbidden to talk to the media.
