Sketching and fishing...

We often try to sketch together.  It is surprising how absorbing it becomes.  Pencils in hand, a comfortable silence descends, punctuated only by the occasional sound of a rubber or a snigger at my poor attempt - I love to draw but I can never get my brain to put down on paper what my eye can see!

by Mr...
by me ...
by little man ...

Last night, the sun was still shining and the air was warm, and so, a spur of the moment decision was made to go fishing - the woodcarver, the artist, the stonemason, the designer, little ones and me.

We arrived, the sun departed.  The wind arrived ... and boy was it cold.

But hardy souls that we are, we persevered, fish were caught, food cooked and tales told.

We came home cheeks aglow, well fed and drunk on fresh air (and just a little wine!).

Hello Marina:
We do not believe that you can possibly know how utterly delightful this post is. It has a freshness, a vibrancy, an energy about it which gives it such impact but, for us, it is the way in which it registers the everyday life, something which is very, very precious to us and which, in the past months when we have lived daily with the possibility of death, means more than anything else.

We love the drawings of the cat, the images chosen to suggest the fishing trip, the cold of the wind, the good food, the warmth of family - these are surely the essence of life. Wonderful!!

Hello there! Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog..I loved your picture "gone with the wind"!
How brave to spend a night on the beach, but looking at your casserole, it was well worthy!
