A perfect balmy evening spent at 'The Crooked House'
to wish "bon voyage" to dear friends.
They are not moving far but will be missed.
A lovely couple in a special group.
A special time in all their lives.
Children brought change.
New friendships were born.
As their little ones grow,
they must hold on to these memories,
times they will never recapture.
Later that week,
an end of summer treat,
a slow day ...
with gentle donkeys,
at a local sanctuary.
They walked through the valley ...
to a secluded beach.
Looking at a curved horizon.
Feeling very small,
in a big place.
Not wanting to get back on the Merry-go-round ...
A cool whisper.
A ripple of melancholy ...
she wants to sit with summer for a while longer.
They move on to Sidmouth,
and walk the Regency front.
He promises her fish and chips to lift her mood ...
and a bottle of beer!
Fires burn.
This summer has been kind to them.
A warm friend.

I know that slightly sad feeling, making the most of the last days of summer. I'm sure you will keep in touch with your friends. Julie x
I'm in love with your silver bangle! I was drinking Proper Job last week, it's alright, innit?
I'm holding out for another few weeks of this glorious weather, the forecast's looking distinctly dodgy though, time to start hunting for flights! x
Such lovely times.
I love the photos of the secluded beach. It looks heavenly!
Your summer sounds good Jane! Hope you will be able to visit your friends soon.

Lovely little post Jane, seems like you had a truly great Summer, it was worth the wait we had for it!
Sweet tribute to your friendship. That walk through the valley to the beach, and the beach itself, is dreamy.
I have a friend who loves donkeys--will show her your post.
What a beautiful post and the photos were a perfect match. --Jan
How lovely - I can really sense that calmness of a still evening
I love Sidmouth and my mum came from Exeter so it was her childhood holiday place
Best wishes
Jenny
Is that donkey sanctuary in Exmouth? Looks like you've had a lovely summer. x
What a brilliant way to spend the summer VJ> Love the final picture of the beach, I don't feel like we've seen enough of the coast this summer, must pop along this weekend.
Such a gorgeous untouched beach. I love these type of beaches. Where you can walk alone, hearing nothing but the waves.
My sister in laws donkey had a baby this week. They're calling him Neddie. He's so tiny and fluffy. Just the cutest thing you've ever seen.
Rosie xx
