They jumped
on the printer’s tray bandwagon at the weekend,
and lined little man’s tray with
vintage Beano comic strips.
He had been
wanting to do this for sometime,
but just the thought of all those fiddly little
squares made it
very easy to find a whole raft of excuses to do other things.
However,
after seeing the wonderful efforts of
the Vintage Sheet Addict, Jelly Jam, Fading Grace and others,
she felt guilty and could
put it off no longer.
Thankfully,
he didn’t want his tray painted!
And so, they
set to cutting out Dennis the Menace,
The Bash Street Kids and Minnie the
Minx.
Hours later they
finished.
It’s not perfect by any means, but he loves it –
and that makes them both happy.
102 teensy compartments ...
homes for found objects, 'hoover horrors'
the little things that boys squirrel away in their pockets,
after a day at the seaside,
or a walk in the woods.
teeny treasures, boyhood memories,
the weird and the wonderful.
Little Lego folk, Farmer Fred,
and their paraphernalia,
living in a high rise tower block ...
presided over by Tintin,
their landlord ...

That is fab! I have loved those on all three of the blogs you mention, but it's nice to see this masculine twist on the craze. I think the unpainted wood really complements the Beanos too! It will be something little man will treasure way beyond childhood!

woo hoo this is FANTASTIC!!!! wow that must've taken some patience...but it paid off as it looks brilliant....makes me nostalgic because me and my sister both had old printers trays for our teeny tiny bits as children......wonder where they are now? well done it is truly fab x

This makes me feel like a bad mother for not even thinking about doing it with my boys before. How has something like this never occurred to me? Then again, it looks like quite a lot of work, so may be I won't mention it just yet.....

What an adventure this must have been...an all day one! But it turned out perfect for your little one. It doesn't have to be perfect for him to love it because it was made with love!
I say it is perfect just the way it is with all of his little treasures that now have a perfectly wallpapered cubby with his favorite papers. So sweet! What a great mom you are!

Ah - the Beano! I was brought up on this and the Dandy, mainly because my father didn't have a boy so insisted on ordering them for me. Thank goodness I had boys, no need for me to miss Dennis & co.
