Time together ...

Amidst much Easter socialising (and work),
they managed to find an afternoon,
of much needed time for just the three of them.

They played and paddled.
Then lazed.
 Gazing out to sea,
unblinking in salty daydream.
Lying on warm pebble,
she watched sunlight behind closed eyes.
Kaleidoscope whirls.
Realtime merging with wispy dream.
The smoky smell of a beachy summer
and distant chatter reaching out to her.
They cooked simple food,
tore homemade bread and shared a beer.
She watched her boy run to the sea,
playing with the lapping tide.
Her young man ... a little child.

Beautiful poetry on this spring morning here, my friend. This is youth in wisdom, to dream, to imagine, to create. You have done that this morning for me. Oh the seaside, how perfect! Anita

Memories are made of days like these. Your post took me back down the years to the time when my son was young. He played with kites then, but now he surfs on them. He’s lucky to live in Australia where the sun always seems to shine.
Lovely post, as always, thanks for sharing. Barbara.

What a lovely post, and the pictures are pure joy. My kids love the sea also and don't know what they'd do without it. I love the picture of the kite soaring in the sky, and your words are so eloquent today going along with the pictures of your story.

love,
~Sheri

Oh my, they grow so quickly those little children. The days like these ones are the ones to lock in your heart and remember for ever, because the deep dark days of the teen are but around the corner!

~ Beautiful family times...Treasure them as you do, Mrs VJ, as they go so quickly...I remember my Mama's wise words.."Enjoy the children while they are small before you know it they have grown and flown".. I never quite understood this when she spoke the words back then...But boy i do now....I had every one home for Easter too...LOVED it!!
Wasn't the weather fabby too..

Very evocative - there is something about the sound that is very distinctive when on the beach

One day it will be such a treat to look back on these family memories. Especially when children are older and they find their "younger selves" amusing. My 15 year old boy loves revisiting family albums and delights in seeing his little self and the adventures he undertook.

You are welcoming Summer soon and here Downunder we are anticipating all things cosy… Seasons are a wonderful reminder to never get to complacent.

Hope your weekend is simply marvellous!

Hi Marina,

Aw, What a sweet post. Little man looks like he is having so much fun. I love his colorful kite. I personally love flying kites and in my 40's had one made from parachute material. I would fly it in an open field and could have done that all afternoon under sunny skies and a good wind.

So glad the three of you were able to spend some time together.
