Post holiday
blues.
Fading sun and darker nights.
Needing to
relight the flame, spark a smile inside.
Admiring
flowers from her mum-in-law.
… old mohair
jumper replaces existing threadbare footrest cover.
Stripping
lavender stems.
Heady scent all
pervading.
Taking deep breaths of healing
air.
They take some time out for a pub lunch.
Hand raised
pork pies, chorizo scotch egg,
pail of crispy chips and some token salad.
Hoppy ale and red wine.
They walk
across farmlands and puff their way up over Corton Ridge.
Each step assuaging the guilt of their
lunchtime excesses.
Lungs filled with
autumnal air.
Following
the smoothed earth of an oft trodden path.
Sun shadows
gliding over green glazed hills and barren ploughed fields.
She ran down
the hill with uncontrollable momentum and renewed vigour.
Smiling.

That pub food looks incredible Jane. I've been on a little downer due to the darker nights too but this post has cheered me up, it's just wonderful. Thanks for sharing Jane and I'm glad that you have all these awesome things to keep you happy going into Winter.
Lovely images, and a timely reminder to cut my lavender and collect the flowers.
Marina,
What a great way to renew your spirit and breathe in the change of seasons. Your photos are so beautiful...all the lovely hills and green fields. I love the mohair jumper! It looks so warm and inviting and the smell of lavender is cleansing and inviting. I just ordered myself a beautiful bunch of lavender. :)
I hope you have a fantastic week! :)
