but it didn't go with the kitchen's terracotta panelling ...
so she painted it grey ...
and then painted the clock gold ...
The old bookcase,
salvaged from the Muchelney floods,
got the grey treatment too,
with a remnant of stripy fabric,
to hide her clutter.
She has a grown up teapot ... her first ever.
She has never drunk tea or coffee!
Little details ...
handmade hearts ... a gift from friends.
A basket for her favourite tea towels ...
she loves tea towels!
Stripy fabric in the front of her little tin cupboard,
and a marmalade pot for her Sharpie collection ...
she loves Sharpies too!
Flowers from great auntie ...
Teeny little convex mirror ...
Egg safe and favourite books ...
Favourite china ...
on painted, dump rescued shelf unit ...
Little tins on top of the mirror ...
the Union flag still flies ...
Colour co-ordinated cookery book OCD ...
all the 'wrong colour' ones are on the bottom shelves, lol!!
The chairs are going to be reupholstered in moquette,
just like the original.
She rather likes this Kirby Designs fabric ...
Cushions from the living room,
on the chair made by grandpa,
that's perfect for the nook by the fire ...
She needs to repaint the green light,
oh, and do the mountain of washing up,
that is out of sight on the other side of the room!
All because of a little red spotty pot.
Dear Marina - isn't it interesting how a little red spotty enamel pot can result in so much more? You must be delighted with the results. I have been a fan of grey for a long time it is such a great colour for enhancing other colours as you have revealed here.

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love everything. I laughed when I read about your book OCD – I’m the same, but not by colour by size – tallest on the right going down in height to the shortest on the left! I’ve done it ever since I was a little girl and can’t stand to see books arranged in any other way. I’ve been known to rearrange the books in holiday cottages and in dentist waiting rooms!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's just like seeing and buying a lovely hat then having to buy a dress and shoes to match. Sometimes one thing leads to another, in a good way. I too have a blue grey kitchen with pops of red. The red started when I saw a huge red table at 'Shabitat' in Brighton. I was there to buy a wardrobe, which i did. but also came away with said table.

One thing leads to another until finally you have completely transformed a room...and a lovely room it is! So cheery and pretty.
