A Present for Grandpa ...

... after seeing Little Man's printer's tray,
Grandpa decided he wanted one of his own ...
for his shed.
They hunted high and low and found one ... just in time for his birthday.
VJ lined it with an old map showing his home town.
Her little girl, always by her side, watched.
They took Grandma and Grandpa out for a combined
birthday/Mothering Sunday lunch ...

... at their favourite pub by the river.

For a while, it was impossible for them to get to it,
the long, winding road cut off by flood waters.

They sat outside at rough hewn tables,
in glorious Spring mid afternoon sun,
watching heron and swan.

The pub was full to the brim,
(photos taken as they left - almost the last to leave!)
An addictive buzz of chatter and laughter,
over the crackle of vinyl discs,
playing Otis and Marvin.
Interesting artworks and eclectic collections add to the character
of this fab pub ...
in the middle of nowhere.
She's not telling where ...

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Those rough hewn tables, the river (Oh dear, what charm) and the thought of being there with someone you love.

This is the type of charm that too much commercial companies have robbed us of. Too many of the same coffee establishments sans original art of the people are taking the fun out of going out. What a glorious day, and your sharing it is equally as special. THANK YOU!

Sweet friend, what a kind comment you left me! I do hope that my writing will only get better as I am engaging in more writing than ever these days; I am now a contributing writer to a magazine in print, and though I am writing all day, every day on my spring break from school, it is what I LOVE TO DO! Now I hope that all this writing will only turn into a more professional style.

And again, that pub...what sweetness! Anita

No, keep that pub a secret otherwise the prices will double and it'll be over run with hipsters! xxx

Hi Marina,

What a cool place!! It is so trendy and hip. I would have been outside too. I love watching the blue herons and egrets around here.

One day last week, we spotted a pair of eagles flying together. I had my camera but couldn't get a good shot of them. I think there is a nest around here somewhere.

I love what you did for your dad! Its cool that you used an old map showing his home town. I bet he really loved it.

I hope all of you had a wonderful lunch together and I can't say as I blame you for not sharing where the pub was located.

Take care my friend.

xoxo

Dear Marina, what a lovely place! I have a 'sort of' idea where it might be, but have never visited. Might do now though.
I hope grandad enjoyed his present.
Have a lovely weekend. xx

Quite by coincidence, I have acquired two printers trays this weekend - maps as a baking is a lovely idea which I may have to copy! The other tray has teeny holes and so I have filled it with postage stamps. For the smallest treasures only.
